Addition and Subtraction Strategies  Rubric Term 3 2021   Name:

Criteria

Level 2 (5ii)

Early Level 3

Level 3

Level 4

Addition and Subtraction strategies

Simple strategies to add and subtract smaller numbers.

Knowing a range of strategies e.g. use of an  algorithm, or partitioning.

Applying a range of appropriate strategies for different problems. Number lines, compensation,

Have a range of strategies that can be used for decimal numbers and fractions

My  goals:

Goal

Success Criteria (This is what it will look like when I get there)

I need to be able to break numbers up to make it easier to subtract.

To achieve this goal I can break up single digit numbers to add or subtract. Eg 47 + 8 means 47 (+ 3 + 5) = 47 + 3 = 50 + 5 = 55 or

in 43 - 6 the 6 would be partitioned into a 3 and a 3. 43 - 3 = 40 - 3 = 37.

I need a range of strategies to be able to use to add and subtract when solving different problems

To achieve this goal I can use different strategies. I can use numberlines to count on and count on back, rounding skills to compensate as well as an algorithm. I must be able to partition well so I can bridge through tidy numbers.

I need to be able to select the strategies to use to add and subtract when solving different problems

To achieve this goal I will have a range of different strategies I can use. I can look at numbers in a maths problem and say this strategy will be best here because ………  I need to be able to justify and explain. I begin to check my answers.

I need to be able to extend my use of addition and subtraction strategies to decimal numbers, fractions, and percentages.

To achieve this goal I will be able to solve math problems that involve decimal numbers, fractions. I will use self checks and inverse to help my accuracy

Goal Setting in Addition and Subtraction

My goal in addition and subtraction is to

To achieve this goal I will have a range of different strategies I can use. I can look at numbers in a maths problem and say this strategy will be best here because ………  I need to be able to justify and explain. I begin to check my answers.

Addition and Subtraction Reflection

Using the two tests, think about your strengths and which gaps you have sorted out. (goals you have achieved). Google form to  be completed at the end of the 3 weeks.

Talk to someone about:

  • How you achieved them (you could talk about how quickly you achieved them, some of the learning qualities that helped you achieve them.)

  • What strategies you now have to help you with addition and subtraction problems. (use your rubric)

  • What worked well for your learning (what you did or what your teachers did)

  • He could maybe give us

Algebra Rubric Term 3 2021 Name: Owen Booker👀

Criteria

Level 2 (5ii)

Early Level 3

Level 3

Level 4

Algebraic patterns

Explain the rule for a sequential pattern.

Describe the rules for number patterns

Use tables and graphs to describe rules number patterns

Find rules and formulas for number patterns

My Algebra goals:

Goal

Success Criteria (This is what it will look like when I get there)

I need to explain what the next term of a spatial pattern will be. Eg

To achieve this goal I can say which is the next number, shape or character in the pattern or I know what the next number or shape will be in the next part of the sequence. Eg the next creature is a butterfly. The next pattern will have four triangles.etc.

I can describe what must happen for the next pattern. For example

To achieve this goal I can say what is happening in the patterns eg You add two matches each time to make the next pattern in the sequence. It is going up by 2 each time starting from 3.

I need a strategy to continue a pattern without drawing or building every one.

To achieve this goal I will have a strategy such as a table I can use to work out how many matchsticks there will be needed to make 10 triangles.

Triangles

1

2

3

4

5

Matches

3

5

7

9

11

Each time the difference gets bigger by one so I can work out the 10th pattern without building it.

I need to be able to use a formula to work out the 100th term in a spatial or number pattern

To achieve this goal, I can use letters to represent the term in a sequence that I get from looking at a table and building a formula.

I notice if I double the number of triangles and add 1, I get the number of matches needed so m = double p plus 1. Eg 3 x 2 = 6 plus 1 = 7.

Goal Setting in Algebra

My goal in algebra is to achieve this goal. I will have a strategy such as a table I can use to work out how many matchsticks there will be needed to make 10 triangles and i did it.

Algebra Reflection

Using my the paper to work it out

Talk to someone about:

  • I would practice and practice until I got it.

  • Drawing it on my worksheet or I would use my mind sometimes for easy stuff and for hard stuff i would draw it on my sheet.

  • A bit more time for the worksheet.

Finally post on your Blog

An Example

Progress and what could have been better.

I was working on patterns with numbers rather than having to build a little or big table on my worksheet.

What could have been better was spending more time using tables to help me and a bit more time so i do not have to rush to do my work for school.

 Fraction Reflection

This is an opportunity for you to reflect on your Maths teaching and learning this week. You can then put it up on your blog.

As a Learners:

What did I learn during the two different lessons?

Converting improper fractions to mixed numbers

What could have been better?

It could have been easier

What were the strengths of my / our teaching?

Micah and I sported our listeners the hole lesson

What could have been better?

talk more

What did I learn from being an observer?

some stuff some stuff was very ok

Would you like the opportunity to teach children in another area of maths? Why or why not?

Writing Sport vs Music

         Writing Sport vs Music

SPORT: First sport you get to play more than 100 or more games like tag,big brown, rugby, football,  american football, basketball, golf, netball, swimming and so much more because you need to get so fit and healthy and when you just listen to old boring music you do not get fit but some music is nice to listen to on your phone, computer,tv,radio and a lot more and you get to play nearly every sport and every day, month, year, century because it is so fun then just sitting in a car just listen to the radio some of the music is very nice to listen to like some of my favourite songs.

Sport you put on boots. Boots are a very helpful for rugby, football because you do not slip over and like land on a rock or a little piece of sticks sticking out of the ground and you might land on it your foot will bleed and it will hurt so so much. Say if someone school play a school like Makauri vs Sunrise if they even have a team and say Makauri won and Sunrise lost it will be fun because you do not be a sad loser because that is so wrong because it is call a sore loser.

I think it will be cool to run for a morning run you can run with airpods so you can listen to your favourite song i have not tried it be for but i think it will be so so much fun running with with airpods in with running.

Measure Reflection - Model Write a reflection on your learning in Measure

You will need to look at both tests and also be prepared to talk about the workshops you went to, the mathletics tasks you completed, the videos you watched on the site, or anything else that helped you. You may like to use the headings below but you don’t have to. My strengths I am very proud of my mathletics because it helps me. Goals I need to work on reading scals cause I think I need to get a lot better at it. What helped me I made my own compass on my desk. It helped me so much so whenever the cleaning guy he cleans the table and I well just back on because it helps me because sometimes I forget it that's why. Preparing I need to get my pencil faster because I am a bit too slow. What the teachers did well in, and what they need to work on Mr K and Mrs Toonneed to work on some stuff. Conclusion I think it was a bit hard at the end because I need to work on the enlargement.

Aviation museum

                                                    Aviation museum

made by Owen Booker

Tuesday the 18th of May.  The bell rang, then we went to sat down and then the parents came around 9:00 to pick us up to go to the aviation museum. When we finally arrived at the aviation museum in the buffalo we went by the door and waited for the person who was going to show us around his name was Duane .First we went to put our bags by the white fence in this little spot then we got split up into groups and I went in one with Linda. Linda showed us photos about the old planes with some very cool models. There were posters about the cool planes and some people from world war 2 and there was so many very cool mini planes on the shelves. My favourite was this saw helicopter airplane. It looked like an airplane but it also had a helicopter airplane. It was really cool.

Maths Place Value Reflection Week 9

To go on Blog Thinking about my learning in place value the parts I’ve improved upon have been (which concepts - get them from the subheadings on the test) . Give some examples eg I now know how many 10s are in a number eg there are 12 tens in 120. The reasons for my improvement have been three things These could have been Mathletics, watching videos from the website, the workshops you attended or the Kahoots you were part of. The parts I really enjoyed were the adding and subtracting The parts that could be better could be 0.1 and 1.0

Dangerous ways to get to school Owen Booker

It was my first day at school. She lived on a hill and she took a zipline to school. It looked amazing but terrifying at the same time plus it also looked amazingly fun. It look’s beautiful because of the lush bush. You might be thinking that she could jump off but if she jumped off she would not be able to get anywhere and there’s wildlife, poison ivy and stinging nettle and she goes so fast down the zipline.

My Weekly Reflection for Week 8.

My Weekly Reflection for Week 8 What I learned this week was: In Maths was how to disability numbers.

In Spelling I got 16/20 on week 8. Thinking about our value of responsibility, this is how I’ve been responsible this week because I helped Hunter and Max E out of the leaves in the cricket pitch. My next steps is to be working harder.

My person who I think has been the most responsible this week is Max L.👍
